"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, even if I have said it...unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." --Buddha
“I think that when I die, I can breathe back the breath that made me live. That will be my gift back to the world that gave me the life I did live, the love I loved and the breath I breathed.”
from THE OTHER WIND by Ursula K. LeGuin
In hospice training, I was taught that there are key phrases the dying and those with them may need to hear and/or say. These words can release people from ancient griefs, bitter resentments, and false fears. I have also seen them heal both hearts and relationships.
I offer these phrases now, not only for those transitioning from this life, but for all who are leaving those things which no longer serve, whether people, places, beliefs, or patterns.
Please forgive me.
I forgive you.
I love you.
